One of the finest film comedians in India today, Vadivelu is an absolute delight to watch. A separate comedy track featuring Vadivelu is a sine qua non in successful Tamil movies these days. Whether as the college student in Sachein, Karate instructor in Pokiri or Vijay's Man Friday in Madurey, Vadivelu leaves the viewer dazzled. The range of Vadivelu's expressions and his deadpan impression as he delivers his dialogs are simply hilarious beyond words. Not only is Vadivelu far ahead of Vivek, his only rival in Tamil movies; we also think Vadivelu is even better than that yesteryear comedian Thai Nagesh, who delighted us in our childhood many decades back. Usually at the receiving end of insults and blows in most of his films, Vadivelu provides welcome relief from the run of the mill stock of Tamil movies. It's often said that Tamil film directors sign up Vadivelu first and then scout for a hero and heroine. We have no reason to doubt the veracity of that statement. Vadivelu's recent movies include Vel, Pokiri and Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan. Vadivelu's forthcoming movies include Dasavatharam and Vyapari (where the comedian will play Spiderman). Vadivelu hails from Madurai and is nicknamed Vaigai Puyal (Vaigai Tempest) after the Vaigai river, which flows through the temple city. Sometimes, the comedian is referred to as Vedivelu (firecracker). Besides his obvious popularity in Tamil Nadu, Vadivelu has a growing fan base with the Indian diaspora in USA too. | ||||
